Ultraviolet vs. Chemical Disinfection
UV disinfection has the following
advantages over chemical disinfection:
comparable chemical disinfection systems.
The cost of chemicals and the hazards
associated with chemical storage,
transportation and handling
are eliminated.
Operating costs are further reduced
by eliminating the need to mix or meter chemicals
into water flow.
UV adds nothing as it
disinfects. It does not change the chemical
composition or affect the taste or odor of the
product, as it is a non-contact disinfection
process.
With UV, no by-products are created.
UV system operation and maintenance
are simplified as there are no mechanical
moving parts in the liquid stream.
